Volunteer is an unincorporated community in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States, approximately east-southeast of the town of Pilot Mountain. ABOUT NORTH CAROLINA COMMISSION The North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service promotes and facilitates service and volunteering to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement in North Carolina. The North Carolina Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service encourages community service and volunteerism as a means of problem solving across the state. Above all, the Commission provides valuable support for the state's growing force of volunteers who impact the lives of others and help meet critical community needs. The Commission administers two federal programs in NC: AmeriCorps *State and Citizen Corps. The Commission also administers the Governor's Volunteer Service Award Program and is a collaborative partner in the NC Mentoring Partnership.
